The history of Nigeria as a great Nation can be traced to the pre-historical settlers in the area of early 11000Bc.most of ancient African civilizations settled in the region that is called Nigeria today,such as kingdom of Nri,the Benin empire and Oyo Empire.
Religion
Did you know that Islamic religion reached Nigeria through the Hausa states during the 11th century while Christianity came in the 15th century through Augustinian and Capuchin monks from Portugal.
Colonialism
Did you know that Nigeria became a British protectorate in the year 1901
The system was was based on three region ; Eastern, western and Northern.
Meanwhile Nigeria was granted full independent in October 1st 1960 as a federation of the three region under constitution.
After while,Nigeria became a republic in the year 1963 succumbing to military rule for three years later after the bloody coup d'etat.
However A new republic was planned to be formed in 1993 but was dissolved by General sani Abacha.
