Blackpool and England legend Jimmy Armfield Dies after battle cancer Battle.

England footballing community have
been thrown into mourning as legend
Jimmy Armfield has passes away at the age of 82.
The late Jimmy was one-club man and
later a BBC pundit was battling cancer
and won 43 England caps while turning
out for the Tangarines 627 times.
Armfield was a star player in his peak
and he was voted the best right back in
Europe between 1962 and 1964.
He is widely thought to be the first
'overlapping' full-back, a common sight
in today's game, but was a tactical
masterstroke at the time.
But he however lost a slot to represent
England at the 1966 World Cup which the
3 Lions eventually won.

Armfield was on the bench for the
duration of the famous 4-2 win over
West Germany, having picked up an
injury ahead of the tournament.
But he only received a World Cup
winner's medal in 2009 after FA
pressured Fifa to retrospectively present
them - receiving the honour at Downing
Street.
The pacy fullback spent a decade as
Blackpool captain and after his playing
career he managed Bolton Wanderers
and Leeds United during a seven-year
